I’ve had a great time reliving it, especially during a wet and blustery January in the UK.

💻 The full post including maps, what we saw along the way and where we stayed is over on omanwanderlust.com.

Keeping travel tips real 💪 Here’s my big takeaways Keeping travel tips real 💪 Here’s my big takeaways from our day in London last weekend.

1. Budget for a treat - we booked Madame Tussaud’s and got money off using military discount. Always check for discounts!

2. Wow the kids with all the free stuff - if you’re usually country bumpkins like us, your kids will have seen London in films more than IRL. See Trafalar Square, Buckingham Palace, Leicester Square and the South Bank.

3. Don’t expect to walk out of the LEGO or M&M stores in Leicester Sqaure without making a purchase!! 🤪

4. Go with friends! There’s nothing like hanging out with some of your faves to keep the grumps at bay.

4. Even better, bring along friends with ideas for saving on food. @performerpreneur did a bunch of research and suggested we ate at Wagamama’s as we got 20% off our bill with military discount.

And did you know you can get filter coffee at Pret for just 99p a cup? I’m saving that gem!

One more foodie tip (because every family excursion goes better when tummies are happy), last week @jennyseaves shared a London trip that anyone can use: rather than dining in, grab a supermarket meal deal to keep your family’s London lunch under £25.

6. And here’s a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ tip: leave the winter coats at home - the tube is a sweat-fest! And you know it’s going to be you carrying discarded layers around indoor attractions 🤪

So there you are. Real world tips delivered. You’re welcome 😅

Comment below if you have any other real world tips for visiting London or other big cities

We spent the weekend in London 🇬🇧 And I couldn’t r We spent the weekend in London 🇬🇧 And I couldn’t resist sharing some pictures from our last family visit, exactly six years earlier.

The girls don’t remember much from our trip in January 2020. We pointed out landmarks that they’d seen then and it was like they were laying eyes on them for the first time.

Some might argue that’s a good reason not to travel with young children. They forget it all. But if you’ve been here a while you’ll know that’s not how we feel.

While little ones won’t remember every detail, they are sponges. Thoughts, feelings and experiences shape their world view as they grow.

We all agreed we shouldn’t wait six years before our next visit!

Jumping on the 2016 trend. When I saw other people Jumping on the 2016 trend. When I saw other people looking back 10 years I honestly struggled to remember what we did or even where we were. A LOT has happened since then!

But it turns out 2016 was as busy as our 2025-26. We moved house, changed jobs and did a bunch of stuff we couldn’t have predicted the year before.

So much of what happened in 2016 impacted my travel blogging journey, from connecting IRL with other bloggers who are now friends for life to experiencing press trips that ranged from ‘pinch me’ moments to utterly abysmal experiences.

Now, can we agree not to do this trend in 2017? I spent far too much time down the rabbit hole that is my camera roll!

Ahh, this is what winter days should be made of. S Ahh, this is what winter days should be made of. Sun, sea and great company!

I’m going to ignore the fact Sunday was a pea souper and bask in the glory of a couple of hours in Sidmouth with @lauren_loves_the_sw (aka @diningdevon) on Saturday.

It’s 18 months since our last in person catch up but, as always, it was like we’d only seen each other a few weeks before. Loved our chat about Devon, life and all things blogging (whenever that is these days).

Follow Lauren’s account for a massive dose of South West England outdoor life and foodie tip offs! You might also spot her on my other account @devonwithkids.

Did you get sun this weekend?

🥵 Exactly six months after landing back in the UK 🥵 Exactly six months after landing back in the UK during a heatwave, the 10-year-old has got her wish for snow ❄️

I know we’ve only got the lightest of dustings here in Oxfordshire but it’s 100% thicker than we’ve seen for quite a few years.

How’s the white stuff stacking up for you?

New Years Day dip ✅ I don’t do resolutions, but New Years Day dip ✅

I don’t do resolutions, but I do like a plan. And something I want to plan more time for in 2026 is the sea.

It’s a bit of an ask when we spend most of our time land-locked in Oxfordshire, but when we get time in Devon so want to be at this beach.

What are you planning for 2026?

2025 has been a bit of a wild one. There have been 2025 has been a bit of a wild one. There have been highs like I wouldn’t dare dream of three years ago. And lows that have left me utterly empty.

I spent a lot of December a bit muddled by it all and hanging on to my usual end of year post for the fear of making it look better or worse than it really was.

But it all happened. Things I want to remember because they lift me up high and others I wouldn’t chose, but shaped the me going into 2026.

Thank you for following in 2025 and I’ll catch you next year!
Anniversary-ahoy! It’s 13 years since I started my Anniversary-ahoy! It’s 13 years since I started my travel blogging journey 🎉

Enjoy some of the bloopers from my camera roll this year 😆

Soooo much has changed since all this started in 2012. From the way the internet works to our family’s travels and the number of hairs on my chin. Hey there peri-menopause!

What hasn’t altered is my love of writing and sharing information (and the odd rant) that I think people will relate to, find useful and enjoy.

Thank you for all your likes, comments and DMs whenever I’ve popped up in your feed. Those little chats mean a lot.

I think the key to longevity on the internet is those real connections, not viral dance trends or clickbait.

Having more than one blogging business has also helped diversify my income and justify the time I plough into creating new content for the interweb.

I think what I’m trying to say is that there are no quick wins and I’m very much still in the race.

In 2026 I intend to turn my attention back to the Tin Box Traveller website. It has taken a backseat while we moved back to the UK and I’ve been emptying my brain into my Oman Wanderlust site.

I’ve still not written about this year’s trips to Malaysia, Thailand and the UAE, so blog posts about them are well overdue.

As for our travels in the first of the teen years…it’s going to be all about the UK!
